leafFolio (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your information is handled when you use our mobile application, leafFolio (our “Service”).

By accessing or using our Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to our handling of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

1. What Information Do We Handle?

Our app is designed to be private. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not have a central server that collects your personal plant data.

Information Stored on Your Device & iCloud

All of the plant data you create is stored locally on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, synced securely across your devices using your personal iCloud account. We, the developer, do not have access to this information. This includes:

Plant names, locations, notes, and photos.
Wishlist items and their details.
Your care history and custom reminder text.

Permissions You Grant to the App

To provide core features, our app may request the following permissions on your device:

Camera & Photo Library Access: This is required to allow you to add photos of your plants. We do not access your photos or metadata for any other purpose.
Push Notifications: This is required to send you the care reminders you set up.

Information Sent to Third-Party Services

To provide advanced AI features, the app sends a limited amount of information to OpenAI’s API for processing. This data may include:

The common names of plants you enter (to generate care tips and find scientific names).
Photos and text descriptions you provide to the AI Assistant (to generate a diagnosis or suggestion).

This information is sent for the sole purpose of generating a response and is not stored or collected by leafFolio. Your use of these AI features is also subject to OpenAI’s API Data Usage Policies.

Payment Data

All in-app purchases for LeafFolio Pro are processed securely by Apple’s App Store. We do not receive, process, or store any of your payment information, such as your credit card details. You can review Apple’s Privacy Policy here.

2. How Do We Process Your Information?

We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. The information stored on your device is processed by the app to schedule reminders and display your collection. Information sent to third-party services is processed to provide AI features.

3. How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We do not keep or store your personal plant data. All of your data is stored on your device and in your personal iCloud account. It remains there until you delete it from within the app or by deleting the app itself.

4. Your Privacy Rights

Because you are in full control of your data, you can exercise your privacy rights directly:

Right to Access & Correct: You can access and correct your data at any time by opening the app and viewing or editing your plants.
Right to Delete: You can delete your information at any time by deleting individual plants or by deleting the app from your device, which removes all of its associated data.

Since we do not have user accounts or collect your data, there is no need to contact us to have your data removed.

5. Do We Collect Information From Minors?

We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 13 years of age. If you become aware of any data we may have inadvertently collected from children under age 13, please contact us so we can take appropriate measures.

6. Do We Make Updates to This Notice?

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated date at the top of this notice. We encourage you to review this Privacy Notice frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
